Lifebeat remembers Mel Cheren at Keep On Dancin

Four DJs hit the decks on Saturday, August 21st to help raise money for three HIV/AIDS non-profit organizations and to remember the “Godfather of Disco” Mel Cheren with the music from legendary dance club Paradise Garage.
Keep on Dancin 2010 NYC Remembering Mel Cheren featured Jellybean Benitez, David DePino, Tony Humphries and Joey Llanos spinning music from and inspired by the Garage. The event benefited GMHC, AREA and Lifebeat, three non-profits close to the late Mel Cheren’s heart. Cheren was a constant HIV/AIDS activist, champion of house music and DJ’s and original financial backer of the legendary Paradise Garage disco.
August 21st was the 4th installment of the Keep on Dancin’ series of events and was held at Santos Party House in downtown NYC. Diva Taana Gardner took the stage at 2:30A to serenade the crowd with “Heartbeat” and other hits while the crowd kept dancin till 5AM!
