On August 5th, Glassnote recording artist and VH1 Artist You Ought to Know Justin Nozuka brought his unique brand of guitar driven, soulful-pop to New York City’s Rivington House in support of LIFEbeat’s Hearts & Voices program.
LIFEbeat’s Nisha Asnani warmed the crowd up with rousing renditions of Nina Simone’s Be My Husband and Thelonius Monk’s Around Midnight in French (Autour du Minuit). Later, Justin took center stage to a huge round of applause from Rivington House residents and volunteers. He performed songs including the sugary, yet sultry Be Back Soon, I’m in Peace and Golden Train from his new CD Holly.

One of the most amazing moments of the night was Rivington House resident "D’s" impromptu backing of Justin on drums. No rehearsal was necessary; it all came naturally to "D" who played additional instruments throughout the performance.
As the night came to a close, Justin asked Nisha to take the stage with him as he performed a cover of Bill Withers’ Grandma’s Hands at the behest of residents. He followed up the evening by signing autographs for appreciative residents.
A heart felt thanks goes out to Justin Nozuka and Glassnote from the LIFEbeat and Rivington House families.
